Christopher Pike Medal of Valor Christopher Pike Medal of Valor
This is the highest award given to Starfleet and Federation Marine personnel who perform heroic acts of bravery that go above and beyond the call of duty.

The act must be one of great peril and personal risk to the recipient, and the action must show he/she displayed total disregard to their personal safety to complete their mission. Multiple witnesses must be able to cooberate the story so that when nominated, the Federation Council can verify.

Upon verification of the act, the Federation Council will then vote, and if approved, a ceremony held by the Federation President will present the medal and ribbon to the recipient (or next-of-kin if awarded posthumously).

Silver Star Silver Star
The second-highest award given, the Silver Star acknowledges heroic acts of bravery that hold to Starfleet and Federation Marine's highest traditions and standards.

Recipients are awarded the Silver Star either because a Federation Council review board or vote failed to pass the Medal of Valor nomination, or the original nominator felt the act of bravery was not quite as perilous and/or dangerous enough to qualify for Medal of Valor.

Federation Councilors, Ambassadors, or Liaisons typically award the Silver Star to the recipient at a small ceremony either at the Federation capital or a base that is closest to the recipient.

Starfleet Cross Starfleet Cross
The Starfleet Cross may be awarded to any member of the UFP Armed Forces who serves in Starfleet Units and postings that see combat action. The recipients distinguish themselves in action by extraordinary heroism not justifying an award of the Medal of Valor.

The action must take place under one of two circumstances:

1) In combat action while engaged against an enemy of the UFP; or,
2) In combat action while serving with friendly foreign forces, who are engaged in armed conflict in which the UFP is not a belligerent party.

Upon approval of nomination, the highest-ranking member of the recipient's assigned fleet will present the recipient with the medal and ribbon.
